Quick Tip
Avoiding rabbit holes
How's business? What are you focusing on this week?
I have Jim Rohn's Success Planner. I'm not very good at always using it. But one thing I fill out pretty consistently is the MY FOCUS line - where I write down what I'm working on in the current week.
And one of the recurring themes that I write down is SIMPLIFY.
You see, I'm one of those people who easily gets caught up in the things I COULD do, particularly when it comes to technology.
For example, I've been playing with some client portal software - which is supposed to make it easier to share information and help manage projects.
Since I'm somewhat of a tech nerd, I easily fall into rabbit holes thinking of how can I do this? Could I connect it to this other tool? How would I offer this to clients? And so on.
Pretty soon, rather than crossing a project off my to-do list, I've added a dozen more.
That's when looking at my planner and seeing SIMPLIFY scrawled across the top of my weekly planner slaps me to my senses.
And I put those 12 projects on my Someday List, which I only allow myself to work on Fridays (I theme my workdays - more next time).
I find that marketing is like that for many of my clients. There are a lot of things you COULD do to promote your business.
But when they simplify and focus on doing a few things consistently, they are much happier with their results.
How about you? Are you able to keep your marketing simple? Or do things tend to run amuck? Hit reply and let me know.
